This
elegant home was built in 1923
for Dr. Frank "Pa" Wheelock,
Provost at Acadia University.
The Wheelock family lived here
for some 30 years before selling
to Freda and David Davison in
1954. Dr. Davison was a family
doctor in Wolfville for many years
and assisted in the delivery and
growth of the population of this
small town. The Davisons were
much loved and highly respected
by the folks of Wolfville and
even to this day the property
is mostly referred to as 'Dr.
Davison's House' by the local
community.

We
bought the house from the Davison
Estate in December of 1996 with
the intention of converting it
into a bed and breakfast some
day. The 'some day' came sooner
than we envisioned. We sold our
small semi-detached home of 25
years in North Toronto in the
Spring of 1998. Peter left his
position as project manager with
a well-known architectural firm
after working with them for over
26 years and Frances pulled out
of administration in the educational
field.

In
the Fall of 1998, we started
with the very extensive renovations
and upgrades. To meet the expectations
of today's travellers we added
a new wing to the east side
of the house to provide all
guest rooms with private bathrooms.
We used traditional construction
methods and materials to make
the addition blend in well with
the original structure. At the
same time, we upgraded the heating,
plumbing and electrical systems
in the entire house. All the
rooms have been freshly decorated
to give an atmosphere of warmth
and comfort. |

By
early Summer 1999, Harwood
House Bed & Breakfast complete
with a new exterior colour
scheme opened for business.

|
Harwood
House Bed & Breakfast is conveniently located off Main
Street , Wolfville adjacent to Acadia University. We are a
short walk away from
superb dining and specialty shops in town.
